Need help.. on a 223 follower in a 308 AI mag

Need help in finding if there is such an item available. Looking to replace the 308 follower for a 223 follower in AI mag's. The chassis that will be used will only accept AI, accurate and P mag's for 308. This is to help get a friend of mines 7 year old daughter into shooting FTR and hunting.

Brownells has two AICS compatable .223 mags Ruger for $36.95 and MDT for $39.95 .I am using the MDT and will be ordering some Rugers .I donot think just the follower will help as the feed lips are different on 308 and .223

I run accurate mags in my 223ai. They work very well. The AI brand mags have been hit or miss over the years.

Couple ways I skinned this cat. I bought a 10 round Accurate Mags 223 version and I modified a 5 round 308 AICS magazine. I only use the modified Accuracy International brand 308 mag now.

My rifle is a 223AI so it has it's own set of issues feeding, but I find the 10 round Accurate Mags just is too tall for me. When I started this journey I was unaware that Accurate Mags made a 5 rounder with the plastic spacer. Even then it may not have been as long internally as I wanted.

As far as modifying an AI magazine, it involves some fabrication, but it works very well. That, and it gives me all the room internally as I can ever need. I got the idea on SnipersHide from 7mmRM. It seemed like a lot of trouble, but it didn't take as long as I thought and it has lasted for over a 1000 rounds. FWIW, when modified, the AI magazine holds 7 rounds and the rounds stack just like a AI magazine would holding 308 rounds.

I never considered playing with a MDT or AI specific plastic 223 magazines.
