need help identifying an action

Hi folks. I bought this rifle and it was supposed to be a Remington 700 action but when I got it Is believe it is some sort of custom action. There aren't any markings on it only a serial number that starts with M-L-. It has a coned bolt with matching serial number and side bolt release. Any of you folks know what it is?
Thank you

No serial #, either a prototype or someone’s one off custom?.
Edit I see you covered the SN. It kind of looks like an AMT. they had very light markings that could be easily bead blasted over with stamped serial numbers.

I didn't cover the serial number. It can be seen in the second picture. It appears differently because I think it was taped when the action was bead blasted so the the rectangular area that was taped is a shiny finish

It is a 223 bolt face. I did get it for rem 700 price so I didn't mind when it showed up. It functions well and was in nice adjustable wood stock. it is wider at the back of the action by the rear action screw so it will not drop in to another stock that is inlet for a 700 without some work.
Haven't had it to the range yet to see how it shoots. Has a 30" 223 barrel with an 8 twist.

Dear God,

I've been a good boy...could you please send me a custom action with a cone bolt at Pre-Biden 700 Remington Walmart price, with a Jewell trigger, and it would be even better if it came from a Democrat that inherited it from his rifle loony Uncle...

Thanks Lord, I'll be looking for that to arrive...

;) :D

Action isn't an AMT as the bolt release is incorrect and the the tang is not the correct shape. early actions had the recoil lug welded on although some had a loose or no recoil lug. The bolt is not an AMT bolt as the bolt had a dogleg bolt handle.

The AMT had it's own bolt.

I would like to get rid of the weavers. Something will have to be fabbed up as the receiver is round front and back. Takes the same base front and back and the distance between them is longer than a Rem 700.

Here is a picture of an AMT bolt. Note the shroud design. Also a lot of people may not remember but I am pretty sure that those actions were not made with closing cams built into their lug abutments. They had those cut into the leading edges of their lugs as shown in the picture. I cannot see the lug detail in your picture but certainly you can examine the bolt for yourself.
