Need Help idenifying a gun

Would any of you guys know what gun this is? The screw sticking out the side is a make shift lever to unlock the action and allow it to swing. The lever you can see under the barrel is an extractor for the cartridge. Please see pics for more detail. There is not any mfg markings, not sure if it was originally a pistol or what the grip was originally the current grip looks home made. Its owned by a friend who asked me to help identify it, no idea what its chambered for but looks like maybe 22 short or 22long but those are just his guess.

If you look closely the two "rifles" are not the same. Bottom of action, trigger guard and pins/screws are all different. also pins/screws are not located in the same place. dedogs P.S. I don't know what it is either.

It's been years since I've seen it, but the gun in the OP, looks very similar to a gun my uncle had. He called it a soap box gun, if you ordered a case of a certain brand of soap they included a rifle. I've no idea if this is the same, just throwing it out there.

Rifles and appears to be a .22 of some sort, rim fire

Agreed, we noticed as well. Wonder if it’s home built, or a second generation or something like that. We are still trying to get an exact ID but we may never figure it out.
