Need help finding a 22LR model

I have a young left handed nephew who is interested in CMP Rimfire Sporter and 4-H shooting. I cannot find a 22lr that I would recommend.

Here is what it needs:
- open Iron sights (no peep)
- left handed
- bolt action
- repeater, 5-shot minimum
- Tapered barrel
- non adjustable stock
- sporter rifle, not a match rifle

Any suggestions? I prefer something other than a Savage.

Savage MK II .1/2" at 50 yds. or better with mid range ammo. But that's with a scope.

CZ 457 is the best bang for the buck in the new rifle category. Good luck finding a 452 for a reasonable cost as they are in high demand.

Talk to the promoters or match directors who run those disciplines and see what the majority of participants use. Most likely it will be platforms that have already been proven.

Having instructed and run CMP rimfire sporter matches you might consider starting him out with a semi auto. There are 2 divisions in the rimfire sporter matches...Bolt and Semiauto. Semi auto is much easier to start with because of the rapid fire stages. It is tough for a new shooter to rack a bolt during rapids. A semi auto would also eliminate the need for a left hand bolt. Most kids were shooting 10/22s. Not sure what kind of shooting 4H is doing. This might limit you to that bolt gun. I agree with the CZs if you can find a LH one

You don't have a lot of choices. Here's one of the best, but pricey (Rem. didn't make many LH), on Gunbroker https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1064804036 You'll need to replace the rear sight, which was probably removed because of interference with the scope bell. Disclaimer: I have no connection to this item.

Seems like kind of a bargain to me, based the prices of new CZ, Tikkas............ 581's are known shooters. But there are no sights on this one.

I would recommend a 581 Remington. They did make them in left hand and they are highly accurate. Cz 452 in fact come in left hand versions but finding them is tough.
"Lefty's",.. RARELY, Sell their Guns, once, obtained as just, too FEW, "Good" Models are,.. Available !
The Tikka's and CZ's, in Left Handed, Look real, "Good" !
Old Rem's, are "Shooter's" BUT,. now, Pricey !!
I Put, a Green Mountain Barrel, Volquartzen Trigger Kit and, a LEFT Handed Safety on My, 10-22 Semi Custom.
AND it, Shoot's,. GREAT !!! SUB 1/2 inch, Group's at, 50 yds with, SK and Wolf,.. Mid priced, Ammo !
But, NO "Sights" so that's,. Out,.. unless you use, a 10-22 Stock Barrel off, an Old rifle.

The difficulty is the:

“Here is what it needs:

The vast majority of newer left hand 22lr sporter rifles don’t have open sights, they’re setup for scopes except Savage.

Among the older 22lr bolt rifles that had open sights left hand ones were rare.
