Need help choosing new scope

I'm in the market for a new scope and can't decide what to get. I'm looking to spend around $450. It will go on a 6.5x284 I just had built. I'm setting this rifle up for long range target shooting out to 1000 yards. It has a 30 inch K&P barrel 8 twist, Remington action, and Jewell trigger just got to get a stock and a scope which is where I need help. I was thinking either the Millet 6-25-56 lrs-1 or a 6x24x42 Weaver. What do you all think is the best scope for this purpose in this price range. Doesn't have to be one I listed those are just the ones I was thinking of getting. Thanks for any info you can give me

Save up another 300.00 and get a good scope. At very least a sightron SIII 8-32 power with the crosshairs. There mildots are huge. Actually you can pick up a used leupold or sightron etc with factory warranty to whom ever owns it. That way you get way more for your money.

Take a look at the Sightron II 6-24x in that price range. Excellent scope. It isn't an SIII but it is in your price range.

This is a tough price range for long range optics. I was in the same situation last year and ended up getting a deal on a Weaver T36. For the money I think the fixed power optics are the best bang for the buck if you don't mind fixed power.

I'd opt for the Weaver or a Leupold. That Millet will end up costing you $1300.00 which is the cost for the experiment and the cost of the Weaver or Leupold. Leupold's guarantee is lifetime regardless of whether you are the original buyer or the tenth owner. Weaver is only for the original owner. That may be a determining factor. Personally, I like Weaver and haven't had a problem with one so it's as they say,"no problem".

Right now, there are a couple scopes on the Optics sale board that would fit. Most specifically an old B&L 36 X, for $425.

I have a couple T 36 Weavers but I was thinking I needed a variable power scope so I could turn it down if the mirage was bad

Well, ok. Then I fall in with John. Save up for a good one, or look for a Bushnell. I put pic rails on my guns and move my scopes around. Got a NF 12-42 , and 2 8-32 s I do that with. What do the " cool" guys say? Buy once, cry once? I have a bunch of lesser scopes I bought, before I got smart, and they stay on my semi auto fun guns. I have a few ?X24s that I find don't give me enough power to shoot dots. I'm old. What can I say. I like 32 or better for these old eyes.
