Need help bedding barrel channel

I have a benchrest rifle in a McMillan stock that I will be rebarreling. Currently the barrel has a 1" dia at the muzzle and the new barrel will he .75 dia.

This is going to give me quite a large gap around the barrel.

I want to fill tha barrel channel so that there is a more rerasonable gap but don't want to add a lot of weight.

I certainly have enough AcraGlas to do the job but am hoping for a lighter solution.

I'm sure there is a lot of bedding expertise out there that will have a solution to my dilemma.

Thanks.

Leave it alone. The extra room will promote more even cooling. If you go back to a bigger bbl it will fit right back on.

Add the glass beads to the acraGlas, big weight reduction.
This is how Brown Precision beds his barrel channels.

I just got done bedding my barrel channel the other night and it did not add any noticeable weight at all. I used Devcon plastic steel and just put the amount of tape on the barrel that i would need for a free float and bedded it just like a receiver. It looks great and fits good.

I'd go with micro-balloons from a hobby shop as well.Easy to mix and easy to shape after its filled. I use round wood stock material from Lowes or Home Depot and cover part of it with pieces of stick on 6" round sanding disc's cut to fit. makes a great shaper tool. just did my Stockade P/D stock for my Savage Target action/Shilen BBl...
