I just purchased a new REMINGTON CUSTOM SHOP 40X in 22BR NORMA with a 14 twist for prairie dogging. I will be using Hornady 50 gr VMAX and 52 gr HPBT Sierra bullets. Please give me starting load and your sweet load with the COL. I have lots of different powders in my arsenal to load from. THANKS

Congrats sounds like a great rifle.I don't have a 22BR yet but I think N-135,BenchMark,N-140,
maybe even 8208 would be good ones to try.Have fun,you will love the 40-X

All barrels and shooters are different. Here's a good place to start.

And keep in mind that the 22BR "IS" real touchy when it comes to bumping up the powder charge. Only 1/10th at a time till you get to where you want. Or, :o. Pressure builds REAL FAST!! Go slow and have fun. ;)

MY LITTLE 22BR LOVES VARGET I SHOOT 32.8GRS W/52GR BERGERS 450M PRIMERS .010 OFF LANDS =LITTLE BUG HOLES SO U START AT 31.5 AND WORK UP.

Benchmark/H322/AA2520/R15/LT32 will all work with the 50`s,it just depends what your barrel wants.

Benchmark, H322 and V-N130 all work well with 50-55 grain bullets in my Cooper 1-12twist. V-N133, N135, and Varget does well with the 60-80 grainers in the Cooper 1-8 twist.

Good luck

Over the years I have had great luck with AA2015. Most recently with 8208. Have fun, it is a great cartridge. ;D

Mine has a 24" Shilen barrel with the 14" twist and 29.2 grains of Benchmark, CCI BR-4 primers, and 52 grain Bergers shoot real nice. Haven't shot prairie dogs with it but no exits on coyotes as close as 60-70 yards so far.

I had excellent results with AA-2520.

Tony.

Yep,
The two BR cases (6BR and 22BR) >DO< like mid slow ball powders ... AA2520 AA2700 H380...........
BLC-2 in a 6BR is pretty spiffy..Bug holes!

yes on this...i tried the faster powders in my two 22 BR S( a 12 and a 14 tw) esp since my 6 BRS do well with them, but get better consistent accuracy with slower powders. N 140 and esp N 540 really punch tiney holes and esp with 60 gr in the 12 tw and 63 and 64 gr bullets in the 14 tw.

Tony,

I messed up the "quotes" feature.

Can you give me a starting load using H380 and 50-60 grain bullets for 22BR?
Thanks
