Need help, 22BR questions

I'm thinking of a 22BR project with a no turn neck and 12T. I will be using Lapua brass and 50-60gr bullets for target shooting and light hunting. Can I use my 6BR type-S dies instead of buying new ones? If so, what size bushing do I need for proper bullet tension? When ordering my barrel what would be the neck dimensions should I ask for? Thanks for all advice and help.

You probably could make your dies work for the 22,but i`d just buy new ones...

As for the neck, you should buy some brass and the 22BR form die.

Form a couple pieces of brass, seat a bullet, then measure the neck and decide how much release you want in the neck.

I run a .250 neck with .248 loaded round in my 22BRDX.

Yes you can use your 6BR type S die with the proper bushing diameter . Most Lapua brass will meaure .014-.015" neck thickness . That means : .224"+.030" (two times .015")= .254" loaded bullet diameter , + .003" = .257" minimum chamber diameter for no turn neck . Your bushing for the .254" loaded diameter is a .252" or .251" diameter , depending on how much bullet tension you want . There is no difference between a 6BR or 22BR sizing die other than the bushing diameter . You will have to buy a diffferent seater for the 22BR .

I am using Lapua new blue box and my loaded rounds measure .251 using Berger 52g Match. I am using a .250 bushing. I just run the 6MM BR brass thru a Redding std FL (non bushing) die with the decapping stem removed. Very easy to form. The older (non blue box) will yield a loaded round of .252-.253, still fits in all my .254 chambered 22 BR's.
