Need Hammer spur extension Vintage Marlin 336

I bought a 1955 era Marlin 336 in 35 Rem. I love the old gun. Fitted it out with a nice 2 X 7 Scope, Hammer Spur [New uncle mike's] & sling swivels. It looks/shoots great. Problem is the Hammer from that era was machined to a nice taper. The modern Extensions are cut Square to fit from 1957 to the late 1980's hammers. What can I do to make or fit a hammer spur that will stay on that old type hammer ? Mike in Ct

Dusty I made a tapered aluminum wedge & put loc-tite cement in the gap. The steel extension has bent itself out of shape on firing. I really need a part better made & fitted to that older shaped hammer. Thanks, mike in ct

Can you take the old hammer out and save it and replace it with the newer square cut to fit the hammer extension? If the scope ever came off the old hammer could be replaced.
