Need CH4D shell holder adapter for Herters press

My brother in law has an antiquated Herters loading press and after many years he is firing it up. He needs an adapter for the RCBS shell holders OR old shell holders for 9mm and 223. If anyone has these hidden way bask in their bunker, we would appreciate a chance to put them to use. we'll be glad to pay the going rate.

Contact Midway or RCBS they both sell the adapters (Both RCBS brand)

I have a #5??? and three #1's in original Herter's boxes. Doubt they will fit 223 or 9mm as I think back then, I shot 222 and '06 based cartridges. One is marked 284 so my guess is it fit my 6MM/284 from the early 60's.

If they would be useful, let me know.

I showed him the adapter and even offered to order it for him, but he thought that he may be able to locate just the shell holders from someone like CaptainMal who has a couple of shell holders just taking up space. The adapter is plan B if he does not find the actual shell holders. What can I do?? He is a relative.

The Herter shell holders are NOT that well machined (I have quite a few as well as 2 of their presses) . Buy the adapter and use RCBS shell holders. I haven't looked lately but the adapter should be in the $20 range.

I absolutely agree with all of you-------but, like I said--it is his idea. I guess that the best thing that I can do is to tell him that no one has what he needs and that he has to buy the adapter. Problem solved. Hey, thanks all for your efforts. Personally, I use my Bonanza Co-Ax with both sets of jaw plates and I can load almost everything.
