Who makes a scope on the lower price range say under 300 dollars that have the smallest crosshairs in them, would it be weaver? I was just trying to get more reviews from everyone that has shot any, the smaller the better. Even if its the 100 dollar brands as long as they will hold still, i dont care as long as there small. thanks Joey

You can pick up a Weaver T36 for $300-$325 used. Just watch the classifieds here or on Benchrest central Watch for one with FCH...fine crosshair. I assume since you are asking about a benchrest scope you do not want a lower power. If you do, I have a japanese T10 weaver with the finest crosshair I have ever used. It is on a 541T right now and unless i shoot at a white target i cannot see them. I would consider selling that scope, $350 shipping included, no insurance, CONUS. I have other scopes that I could use to replace it. I may even have the box somewhere...

Thank you for your replies

Thank you for the replies, I already have several long range scopes, I was just trying to find a cheaper version plus it has to be 6.5 power, I forgot to mention that.

In that price range try to find a Weaver Classic 6-24 with the crosshair reticle, they are fine enough that they should work for you. If I recall correctly the 6-24 would be allowed but you would have to keep it set at 6 power for the competition.
Occasionally an older Leupold 6.5-20 will come up in that price range but the bodies generally have ring marks or dents when they are priced that low. In my experience the Weaver will track better than the Leupold.

p.s. - the Weaver has 1/8" clicks - a good thing for benchrest shooting.

I like my Weaver T36 with dot better than my T36 with no dot I had on my Suhl 150 years ago. The one I have now went on a Joe Chacon ABRA custom 10/22.

BSA makes a 36x with AO and, cross hair with 1/8 dot,and 1/8 adjustment for about half the price. I started out shooting one about 30 yrs ago, donated it and a Mossberg 144LS to the youth group 3 yrs ago...Still working today.

I didnt say it was excellent, only a starter and cheap. Thanks for putting me straight.

There is a school of thought, and I subscribe to it, that says the absolute last thing you want to scrimp on is a target optic.
Exactly what do you learn....if anything....from a s..t Chicom scope that often won't hold POI.
Remember seeing the nice target is nice but the single most important thing you want in a scope is it's unwavering ability to hold POI.

We used to say the glass will always outcost the rifle it sits on. Most of the time that is true. I use a T24 weaver for my 50 yard 52D's. I found the T36's were too easy to bounce around with pulse from a cheek weld.
