Need advice , AR-10 6.5 Creedmoor build

I just joined few days a go was impressed with all the good info and help going on here very nice.
I have built 4 AR's 3-223's and 1=300 blk out would like to do AR 10 in the 6.5 creedmoor . I have bin looking for a barrel with a match bolt not having much luck , does any body have preferences to a good barrel brand and with accuracy in mind and "where to get it." I already have 2- 6.5 creeds (in process of making #3 right now) banging steel at 1000 yrds would like to do the same with this one. Any advise on any aspect of this AR 10 build would be appreciated since its my first attempt on this platform. ……………. +Zerostop+

I built a 6.5x47 Lapua on a Mega Arms MATEN upper and lower with a 24" Bartlein barrel, Trigger Tech trigger and MagPul PRS stock. JP Enterprises High Press bolt & carrier, Leupold VX3i scope. Great set up for 600 yds as that is the only range I have. Quality Components = Quality build = Great shooting gun.

Thanks for the info on your build Pawnee , who did you buy your Bartlein barrel through ? I am all set up to do the 80% lower milling to make my own lower . I have 2- 6.5 credmoors a savage and a ruger precision hitting iron at 1000 yds , would like this AR-10 6.5 crm to do the same

If you are a hand loader consider the 6.5x47 it does shoot better and has world records to prove it.
As for barrels Criterion has made excellent barrels. Never seen a bad one.

Thanks Grimstod , I will look in to the 6.5x47 and the Criterion barrel. I do hand load , is that cartridge compatible with the 308 bold carrier ?

I sent my bolt to Mark at Precision Firearms and he did the work on the Bartlein. www.precisionfirearms.com

Large Frame AR's are not like building an AR-15. There is no standardization of components for large AR's and it causes lots of mis-match headaches. I have two large frame AR's, one is in .308 and the other a .260AI. After much learning I used a Mega Arms MATEN upper/lower, JP SCS and VMOS BCG w/ high pressure bolt - because it is suppressed, SLR adj. gas block, +2 gas system, Geisselle trigger, Magpul PRS stock, 22 in Kreiger barrel. I ONLY use Lancer mags.

There are many lessons learned in the above component selection.

Good advice. +1 on the Mega Arms MATEN, used for 308 & 6.5x47 Lapua builds.

Thank you Harry, that's the very reason I asked for advice and you have delivered ! I like the old saying a stitch in time saves nine. Need to finish up this bolt action build before I start the AR-10 build so continue to do research. I am not finding any pro's or con's on doing your own 80% receivers in the AR-10 which I have done very successfully in the AR-15's. If I were to find any major negative con's I would get one ready to go.

A couple things to think about on an AR-10 build, I would never build another AR-10 without using a matched upper/lower set. That eliminates pretty much all of the 80% stuff. As previously stated, there is nothing standard on AR-10's compared to the 15's. I probably would go with a billet set. Also I've used matched barrel/bolt groups from Faxon. They will come correctly headspaced. PM me if you have any questions about them. I have used several of their 6.5 creed barrels/bolts with good success.

Thank you Larryh for the advice , I will go with a matched set and a drop in triger 3.5 Ib pull is my favorite. I will PM you If I have some question thank you for the offer

What brand 80% are you using. I had some that the magazine catch was machined to close to the deck by about 0.050" and caused magazine feed lip interference issues...
I completely agree with LarryH about using same brand upper and lower
