The 581 will benefit greatly from a second action screw. I put a 1/4-28 allen head, drilled thru the hole in front of the trigger guard. The trigger can also be tuned to about 1 lb, with some modifications. Epoxy bed is nice, too.

I've rarely heard of a 58x rifle shooting poorly. Most all of them are capable of holding decent groups at 50 yards and the right ammo. My 582 will shoot .750" at 50 yards with cheap ammo which is darn good for a pencil barrel mini 788 I think. Good enough for hunting for sure.

I am also considering the second action screw but am thinking about putting it in the aft trigger guard hole which will place it in the tang rather than near the locking lug. I will do it 8-36, same as a rem 700 action screw.
