need a load 243AI

just got a 243AI been fire forming with 105 berger VLD and 35 grs varget in norma brass formed real good 5shot groups at 100yd ragged hole now i need load for RL17 anybody shooting this or what else any input will be greatly appreciated

I'm shooting 48 gr of RL25 under a 95 berger HVLD. Also shooting 46 gr of Accurate MagPro under a 107 SMK. Reloader 17 may work but I get better velocities and accuracy with the slower powders.

Just razzing you a little. I run the 105 grain A-Max with H4831 and get very good results. PM me for the charge.

Scott, what velocity and barrel length are you running with that load? Jumping the bullets, since it is a hunting load?

Factory Remington 700 action. Jewel trigger. Krieger 1x8 twist 28 inches HV contour. Velocity is 3020-3030 fps avg over 10 loads. 2.875 oal. I have a CDI bottom that I had a local machine shop mill into an HS stock. I opened up the feeding ramp with a dremel tool to allow for Alpha 1 mags to fit. They accomodate up to 2.900 oal, a bit more that factory magazine fit. I'm seating bullet into lands at 35 thousandths. Hope this helps.
I have had great luck with RL 22 as well, just not quite the velocity as RL 25. Scott

No help on Rl-17. I'm using 42.6grs of H4350 with 105 Berger Hunting, VLDs, and 105 Amax. I'm jumping the Bergers .010 getting 3140 fps and the Amax .030 getting 3100 fps. This is out of a 25" 1-8 twist Rock Creek using Lapua brass.

shot out to 1025 yds this passed sat.was shooting 243AI 105 berger VLD jammed hard in lands with 43 grs RL17 showed no pressure and shot very well 3100FPS but very deadly on steel ground hogs. come up 11MOA first cold bore shot hit 12inch plate at 600yds. it took 5 shot to hit at 1025 but then 5shots to hit 4 times at 975 on steel groundhogs shot it 35 times it seemed like accuracy went away a little when i cleaned it seemed like it had a lot of power fouling my barrel is 26" and 1in8 twist what do you think is wrong powder???? i am using norma brass lit with BR2 THANKS FOR ALL INPUT

Stacy, what is the muzzle velocity of that load? Are you jamming or jumping the bullet?

I'm getting ready to try H1000 but with 215M primers and 105 Hybrids.

Never tried them on an animal. The box says "Not recommended for hunting". I use the Hybrids for target and steel shooting - and 105 AMax for hunting.

I can't remember if the amax's say it on the box. But you are right - the amax is supposed to be a target bullet. However, it sure is nasty on groundhogs from point blank to over 1000 yards. And it will drop a deer in its tracks with a neck shot.

Well, 48 grains of H1000 lit with 215Ms and pushing 105 Hybrids went 3184 fps out of my 28" barrel. All three groups I shot (47, 47.5 and 48) were lousy. I will try Fed 210 primers next. BTW, jump was .022".

Yeah I've shot a few coyotes with the amaxes and they sure do work good.

With those hybrids in my 6br bench gun I have the best luck with them in the lands about 5 to 10 thou.

Thanks. The Hybrids looked pretty good at .022 off the lands with H4831sc, so I thought I would start there with H1000.
