need 9mm 1911 magazine recommendation

I have a RIA 9mm, works great with factory Mecgar mag, I tried Wilson mag and they wouldn't hold slide open(I returned), I bought another Mecgar and it wouldn't strip top round off (Mecgar was going to charge me more in charges than I paid for it)

Any suggestions?

thanks

I would buy from the gun manufacturer. I carry a Sig 1911 in 9mm and their mags work perfect. Have never had any failure to feed, eject, or jams. Not one.All my mags have come from Sig.No this is not a Sig endorsement, their customer service is a joke. New 1000.00 pistol shot 15 in high at 20 yds. There answer was we can not help you. But, their magazines work in their gun perfect.

The MecGar's and Chip McCormick's have always been dependable for me, when venturing outside, beyond the factory mags.

Another vote for Tripp Cobra Mags. I have several for my 1911 45auto. Love them!!!! No experience with the 9mm, tho.

Hands down the Wilson ETM should run flawless. Most popular style 9mm 1911 magazine used in competition shooting, IDPA and USPSA. I've owned a variety of different and finally settled on reliability/consistency of these....I own a bunch.

If you are having problems with stripping rounds and slide lock on empty magazine then you are having a issue with the gun, and not the magazine. This is confirmed by fact that you continue to have issue while using different types of magazines. The issue isn't you magazines, but rather the Magazine Release button, which is not engaging/locking the magazine high enough in the magazine well. Buy a quality replacement part, such as Ed Brown, Wilson, EGW, etc... might as well upgrade to an extended design for $20-$30.

Its easy to install and in most cases is a simple drop in part. Otherwise, get your local gunsmith to do it for you.

You would think a 1911 mag is a 1911 mag, unfortunately not so, I have had very good luck with Chip McCormick mags in my 1911's but none are 9mm.

If you get the Medgar get the one with the plastic follower. I had some of the metal follower units that would only take 4 rounds the plastic units work great.

I use Chip McCormack mags in all my 1911's and have never had problems. Some of them are over 10 or 12 years old. I number all magazines so I know later which one needs replaced if needed.
