necking 6.5 grendel to 7mm

Where can I find data concerning simply necking up the 6.5 grendel case to 7mm, loading and shooting. I ws thinking of shooting both the 110 Barnes TSX and the sierra 162 HPBT match, to be launched from an AR. All i would need is a new barrel in 7mm, with the 6.5g chamber. Seems simple, but may be fun.

I expand 6.5X284 to 7mm and it is very simple. You may find it necessary to inside neck ream or turn the necks if a donut forms in the part of the shoulder that becomes part of the 7mm neck. I expand the necks with Lapua brass in three steps the last of which is the expander for the neck turner. I turn all of my necks. Others may suggest different methods but this one has worked for me.

i am not sure you would gain anything by doing this. the 6.5 is pretty optimal for this case. you may find a 7mm grendel lacks speed and if you compare a 6.5 100gr TTSX with a 7mm 100gr, the 6.5 has better ballistics.
also, whereas you could load a 162 grin the grendel case, it is so long you would lose a lot of space inside the case.
but heck, nothing ventured, nothing gained!! if you go through with the project, let us know how it turns out--cam

I have a 6.5 Grendel and wish it had more capacity. I imagine in 7MM it'd be even more underpowered, you'd be using some pretty fast powder to try and get power out of the combo. The 'improved' versions in 6MM are very good though, mainly the 6MM RAT & T40, I wish they were available in 6.5.

Look at data for the 7 BR and realize that you are giving up about 2 grains of powder capacity. When looking at loads, factor in that the AR will reduce powder capacity even further due to the magazine length restrictions.
