Necking 270 Wsm up to 300Wsm??

I was given several boxes os Winchester nickel 270wsm brass that i necked up to 300wsm. I read several articles that are emphasizing to neck turn after necking up. Anybody have any experience or thoughts on this?

I wouldn't try it. The nickel plated brass is pretty hard and not as maleable as a brass case. Shoulder position should be in about the same place on the two cases, so that's not a real issue. If the necks are uniform and you have adequate clearance across the loaded, then you could go ahead and try to load/shoot it. But you can forget about trying to turn it. IMO, that will ruin the cutter blade on a turning tool on the first case.......

The question really is, why would you want the nickel plated brass in the first place? Because it's free? In my experience, its a PITA to size/reload even when its already the right caliber....
