Neck wall thickness variations!!

I just received some new Norma 6.5/284 brass and the neck concentricity is horrible. From one side of the neck to the other, some of the brass varies in thickness as much as .003". Not to mention they had rust on the necks that wouldnt even turn off and more burrs and nicks than I could beleive. I have never had new brass this bad. Some were as much as .0065" off on the concentricity guage as well.

What are your opinions on a reasonable amount of neck wall thickness variation in a case?

A difference of .0025" can give you up to .005" runout on the guage! i use the Sinclair guage by the way.

I would turn them to celan up the necks. I really do not measure neck wall thicckness as I turn all my cases even one for a no-turn chamber. For the No-turn chambers, I jsut clean them up a bit.

I would want no more than .002 runout withloaded ammo measuring about 1/2 way up the bullet that is protruding from the case.
