neck turing tools

What tool do you use to turn case necks? I have noticed all major reloading brands make a handheld unit and they all look relatively similiar. which do you like best? Do most people buy more than one if the case will reguire more than one pass to reach the desired diameter? Which do you think is the best value if buying more than one? Just bought a rifle that will reguire neck turing,6br, 6.5x284), so just looking for a little advise.

Mine are k&m neck turning tool i use 2 to take a rough cut and the other to take a finish cut they work great but are small holder the sinclair is a little bit bigger but they all do the same thing. I guess its what suits you the best but i do like having 2 turner because the finisher leaves a really nice finish.

farminshooter: Started out with the Sinclair NT-1000, but always had trouble controlling depth of cuts, especially when trying to duplicate a previous setting: a lot of guess work, and sometimes ruined very $ Lapua brass. Used a feeler gauge to adjust cutter, but could not get accuracy to .0125", .0113", etc. Finally bought the K&M outside neck turner, with the mandrels, and never regretted the purchase: You really can control the depth-of-cut, as advertised to 4 decimal places.:)

You really need to turn cases twice; I use a Forster to rough turn off about .0005; then K&M for final turning. Trying to remove say .0008 or more in one bite is difficult. I dedicate one K&M turner to each rifle - it is near impossible to duplicate the extremely fine adjustment if it is moved.

I agree with the others.
If you can dedicate a couple for different calibers and depth of cut, you won't regret it.
Your question about best value would probably be the K&M. IMO.

croberts: You can order direct,717)292-3175 from K&M Services, 5430 Salmon Run Rd. Dover Pa. 17315. You may want to call & order their catalog first, then you can place a phone order. They do business the "old fashioned way": they will ship the item,s) with an invoice for payment to follow. If you call around 9 am Eastern time, you'll probably talk to Ken Markle, the owner: it's a small company, but very big in quality and customer response.:)

Another recommendation for ordering direct from Ken. If you have any questions about his tools, or the best way to use them, he will give you the answers. He is also quick to ship his products, as well. Great to do business with someone like Ken.

Ditto on Ken's K&M tools...great guy...great help for newbee's. I use Forster for my 1st cut and the K&M for the final cut.The expanders are a must, the carbide donut cutters make the inside uniform as well.
