My chamber neck for my 6BR is .271. I don't turn necks. I use only Lapua brass.,all same lot #) I have a new Redding case neck gauge, and I am wondering what is considered acceptable variances. I just checked 25 cases,,after bumping the shoulder, neck sized, de-primed, primer pockets clean, and case mouths chamfered in & out, no cases needed trimming) Out of the 25, 20 are less than one-half of .001 difference, and 5 are almost at .001. Can I assume the 20 cases are acceptable for match shooting, and the other 5 cases should be used for fouling shots? Is this the way to segregate the good cases from the "not as good cases"?
