Neck sizing

I have redding type S match neck sizing die and when I resize the necks on my 6br lapua brass the die is not sizing the neck all the way to the shoulder/neck junction. Is this normal or should it be sizing the neck all the way.
Thanks,

You should be able to get it to size all but about the last 20 thousandths of an inch of the case.

Can I assume you have the bushing retainer wound all the way down until it bottoms out and then backed off a smidgeon,i.e. just enough to allow the bushing to free float)? If you don't have it wound all the way down, it will only partially resize the necks but this is what the die is designed to do.

FWIW, I don't see any value in resizing the necks any further than below the base of the bullet. There's a school of thought that says thet the unsized portion which remains below the base of the seated bullet will assist case alignment in the chamber.

If you are seating bullets at less than the full depth of the neck, partial sizing may be all you need.

It's normal. My FL "S" type does not size all the way to the junction either. I agree with the previous poster,,,no need to size below the base of the bullet anyway.
