neck size no turn

if you were going to go with a no turn neck in the 6 GT what would you go with 272 273 274 275 or should i go with a 269 & turn necks using lapua brass .

It depends on the brass you will use. Seat the bullet you want to shoot in a case and measure the neck diameter with a micrometer. Add 0.002" or 0.003" and that's your neck diameter.

Every batch of alpha I had was different, some of it had to turned, even using their Reamer.

Get your brass, measure a few cases and then neck turn or order a reamer with .004 clearance.

243/6mm bullets have gas/pressure rings ranging from .2432 to .2437.
.272 or .273 for a no turn. A .268 will cause you to turn into the high 10s. My guess.

you know most my rifles have turned necks now i wish i would of just went with no turn necks don’t think it makes a difference.

I’ve had Alpha from .269 to .2715.

Have 1,000 Lapua GT ordered just going to have JGS make a Reamer and be done messing with alpha.

My previous ones were .135, probably shortening up to .104. I’m shooting more 80-105s than 108-109 these days.

Better pre-order your brass, and I’m serious, have it in hand before you chamber a barrel. There’s literally no telling what the neck diameter or other dimensions will be.

If you just want to go with alpha, there’s brass in stock and reamers are plentiful.

well lapua has 6 GT brass now and i’ve always used it not saying it’s any better it’s just what i use . thanks though.

Yea I’m switching for SURE. It will be better, just no telling when it will hit the US. I have it pre-ordered a couple of places.
