neck clearance

given the 6mm br improved and the 6mm ppc what do you as gunsmiths and shooters us as your loaded rounds as compareded to the neck of the chamber. as an example say a loaded round that is .266 and the chamber neck of .268 which gives a space of .001 on each side of the loaded round .

Gary, .002 to .003 total is normal clearance on a 6mm over a loaded round.... jim

No less than .002. I like about .0025

Never seen accuracy improved when running "tight neck", and have tested it in a couple different calibers. So I run spacious clearance to eliminate tight clearance risks, generally around 0.003" or more.

I'm in the "test it" camp. My 284 wants at least .004, all of my dashers shoot better with 3 or more. I am a complete rookie with my PPC, however I do agg better with thinner necks..... more than .002 clearance.

My 6BRX has a 270 chamber so I turn to a loaded round of 267..
