Neck bushings

Can you use Redding neck bushings in a RCBS FL Neck Bushing die? Nobody seems to have the neck bushings for a .308.

HI Butch....as you know Wilson developed the first bushing dies and then others have built resize dies that use either Wilson or their own brand of bushing,,,,like Redding ,which is what I use most of the time now (types S full length most of the time) but,,,there is one company out there (either RCBS or Forster that I dont have any of) that uses a bushing that is ~ .125" longer !!! they are all .500" outside dia. but if his die uses/needs the longer version a "wilson" type bushing wont work properly,,,,Roger
PS,,check on down the page,,reply #10,,,,that gentleman knows,,,its the Forster that is the "long" one,,,they wont fit "properly" in a die desighned to use the "wilson" type, and visa versa,, ,,my buddie had this happen a while bak,,,

The Forster bushing is taller... having said that it will still work in my whidden dies (which are designed to use a redding bushing)

There is plenty of room in the top portion of the die to use the longer forster so long as you don't use it in a Wilson for obvious reasons. The Wilson bushing die does not have the depth to use the longer forster bushing.

If you want numbers the redding is .500" dia x .375" in height , the Forster is .490" dia x .500" in height.

As I said I have used a forster in a whidden and redding die but they are a looser fit with regards to the bore they sit in.

Roger,
All I use are Lambert carbide bushings. Wasn't aware of the Forster bushings, but they would work in most of my dies though. I don't believe I have any Wilsons left.

Hi Butch,,,,wow,,,carbide is definately the way to go,,,,I wanted to comment on this thread for those folks who dont shoot/compete like we have,,,,they usually have no idea what works or is out there,,,,I wasnt shure of the brand of die/bushing but new there could be a problem,,,,I like the wilson taper so that I can tighten up a little by inverting it,,,,,OBTW,,,Josh is certainly haveing a good season,,,Im proud of him,,,,say hi,,,,Roger

Thanks Roger,
I was in the carbide bushing business about 10 years ago or so. I had them for 22, 6mm, 6.5 mm, and 30 cal. I kept several for myself. I have about 6-8 sizes for ea. caliber.
