NBRSA questions

our local range here in Eatonville Washington is having a 600 match and I’d really like to shoot at it if I’m able to reschedule a job that weekend. I’ve never shot one of these matches but looking at the rules it says it’s 5 shots in 10 minutes? Is that always the same at every NBRSA match? This range has a 600 match just about every month but it’s always 20 rounds in 22 minutes which kinda pushes my magnum rifles out but 5 in ten minutes is definitely fine. Also, what’s the average groups in an event like this?

Looking at the entry form, it looks like Friday is a practice day, Saturday and Sunday is the match and then Monday is a rain day? What’s a rain day?

20 rounds in 22 minutes sounds like an f class match.
That’s the course of fire they have at their monthly 600 bench matches. I haven’t shot it because it’s a little too much for my 300 prc. I’ve been thinking about trying a 7mm prc for f-class with some mild loads with cooler burning powder that I can also use for some light elr.

I was reading through the rules and looking like I need to find a different brake other than the gen 2 ec tuner brake because of the port design. I’m hoping I can borrow one from a buddy that I think is legal but need to look it over. Shuzzbutt

...and 5 shots in 10 minutes sounds like a single card at a short range BR match. It's not as boring as that sounds on most days and in tough conditions, you can run short of time, even at that. Depends on how hard you work at the game. Literally though, when I'm on my best game, I get up from the bench and my hands may be shaking in tough conditions. It's not boring if you play it right. Lol!

Yeah, you need to use a muzzle brake with ports that are 90° to the bore without expelling any gases rearward.
Most of the shooters here in Tucson use something along the lines of the Harrels radial or a Vais style brake.

OP...their monthly club/fun matches are 10 rounds per target, you can shoot 1-3 targets/relays
The match in Sept. is the NBRSA Nationals match...2 day event, 3 (5 shot) LG and 3 (10shot) HG targets each of 2 days. for record, unlimited sighters...Best 2-day Aggs. will decide winners
This is a very brief description and Rich J. will explain in more detail.
The cartridge you have will work fine, the brake deal is what WAMBO said
It will be fun, Some pretty good shooters will be there

"what's the average group size?"

Every competitive shooter has their own "average" or rifles ability etc.
Last NBRSA match there in December 2023 my LG 3 target Agg was 2.26"--HG 3 target Agg 3.18"
good for 4th place out of 16 shooters
A lot of 2-3-4-5" groups shot that day....Also a lot of really good targets but very little wind
Do the best you can and it will be fun!

The monthly Club 600 fun matches have changed a bit since the last time I sent you the course of fire in early 2022. Starting Jan 2023 we switched to shooting ShotMarker ETargets and switched the course of fire format a bit. I sent you a PM.
