NBRSA Light Gun

Good morning all
I have several questions, since the NBRSA Long Range light gun weight has been changed to 22 pounds how many of you F Class shooters have or plan to shoot NBRSA long Range Benchrest with your F class rifles?

Next question is for NBRSA Long range bench rest shooters, since your existing light guns weigh 17 pounds do you plan on building new 22-pound light guns? and if you do build new light guns are you planning to move up to larger calibers?

Since I already have four 17-pound light guns I don't have any plans to spend a bunch of money to build new rifles or add 5 pounds to my existing rifles.

Thanks for looking.
Tommy Leroy Johnson.

No change. Already have a larger caliber LG @ 17 pounds. Also shoot at Deep Creek (IBS) so need to keep LGs at 17 pounds.

I am switching up my light gun a little. Basically repurposing a couple parts.

Previously I had to use a Golden Eagle scope to make weight. Now I’m planning to put a Sightron SVSS-ED on it. I already had it though. Now my LG & HG will have the same scopes.

Also gonna try a heavier contour barrel when it
arrives (1.25 ->1.0”). It was already on order with other plans.

Thanks for bringing up this subject on this forum. We have been asking the same question among our selves. Our friend Blinky has added weight to his guns he is taking to the Nationals. The added weight will help steady up the rifles, and he thinks most, if not all the competters will also be adding weight as well.

I have competeded with my 16 pound gun in both light and heavy class for several years, and I am not in any hurry to add weight. My Eliseo Tube gun has always been about 18 Lbs. and now I can take it to the line.

At our Ojai CA range we would love to have F/Class shooters shoot with us. If there are any out there in So. Cal that want to shoot 600 yards, look us up at: http://ojaibenchrest.org. Currently the road to the range, Hwy 33, is closed due to strom dammage. We hope to have matches resume in June.

Excellent question and time will tell what the NBRSA long range community does with their LG rifles. Bigger question for me is will the change draw in F Open shooters. Hope it does and time will tell over the next few years.
our target is much smaller than f class. they will have to get use to that.
not spotting each shot on scored target, a mere 5 or 10 shot string
