N530 in 6br?

anybody ever try n530 in a 6br with 68gr bullets with any success? got several pounds & thought it might be a good powder...

Since there hasn't been much of a response to your post, I thought I'd throw this out for discussion. Now I'm no "expert" but based upon my experiences shooting mostly 68 gr Bart's bullets using VV powders and what Vihta Vuori writes in their manual, the 500 series of their powder burns too slowly for the 68 gr bullet. The closest powder I tried was VVN540 and that didn't perform all that well. Now I use VVN133 and have seen others get good results using VVN135 and that's in 6mm and 6ppc where I've seen terrific results. You may already be aware of this, but on page 53 of the Vihta Vuori manual, they show a table of all their 500 series powder under "Characteristics of the powder and most common applications." " N530 = This is the fastest burning powder in the N500 series, its burning rate close to Vihtavuori N135 and Hogdon BL-C(2). Developed especially for 5.56 mm NATO-cartridges and gives excellent performance in many .45-70 Government loads, also .308 Winchester loads with bullet weights under 10 grams (155 grains.)" The burn rate BTW for N530 is 55 compared to the N133 that I use is 62. Hope that helps some in terms of the discussion. But what the heck, give it a try and see what happens. appreciate the reply,guess i'll give it a try & see what happens,have been using vv135 & getting pretty good results,just have about 7lbs of n530 so i thought i'd see what others have tried

Interesting. According to Vihts burn rate chart N-530 is just a touch faster than N-135.
I can't recall ever trying N-530 in the 6BR with 68gn pills even though I have quite a bit sitting around doing nothing.
It should work fairly well. You might not see as much case fill as many would like but thats just a quess on my part.
Try it.
N-540 is in line with W-760 which is not the place to be with 68's

Burns pretty hot, barrel life will decrease.
