My Re-Done 223!

It used to be a prone gun.. now it will be more than that!

.223 ISSF chamber, 3 groove 7 twist Lilja barrel 30" long.. group was shot this morning at 100 yards.. Using Hornady 80 Amaxs.. but now i have to get my hands on some of the ELD-Ms and see if they will do the same thing!

Perfect long range prairie dog rifle;):) ....er well looking at the target maybe even a competition
shooter for sure! good looking rifle too!:D
i plan to use it in UBR. There isn't really all that much open space for "long range Prairie Dogs" around here.. first, i have never seen one here.. and if you get a shot beyond 200 yards.. you're doing good!

EDIT: Though, it might be fun to shoot it in an F-Class match maybe

Now that is a .223! A Beautiful rig there mate.

With a 1:7 twist will you be playing with 90gn pills at all?
I have in the past, but not with this rifle. Shooting the 90s for what i am going to be doing is a waste.. since i am not going to go beyond 200 yards with it. But i feel that shooting the lil pills is a waste as well. Since being that it was originally throated for the 90s. But in the past, i have had great success with 80s and 75s in the same throat.

And thank you for the compliment!

Ok.. took the lil 223 out to the range today.. just a lil test. I made a tuner for it to try with the Berger 80.5 Fullbore bullet. With a load of 23.5 gr of RL15 last week without the tuner on it.

was showing to be a working area of a good load. What you are not seeing is that the rest of the test from this OCW target was the amount of vertical in the other groups. Also in retrospect, the 23.4 load was really 23.3..

So here is the rifle sporting the tuner. I set the tuner with the Purdy RX.

Now i didn't make it like Eric made his with the tuner basically even with the muzzle.
What i did notice is that with the groups that i shot today.. though the 23.5 load seemed to open up a lil, that even though the groups were increasing one tenth which is a lot in a 223 with the heavier bullets, that the horizontal remained even with all of them.

What i do feel here is that the tuner has shifted the load a bit from 23.5 to 23.7. So now it would be prudent to go for seating depth to see how much more i can tune the load better.
