My p-dog trip report

Last weekend, three buddies and I drove out to p-dog town in western Kansas. It is the usual spot we've shot for the last 6 years. Numbers were good and the dogs were not spooky until the last morning, haha. Most of our shots were 150yds - 400yds. There were a handful of bonus dogs under a 100yds, but not to many. Quite a few large dogs with a lot of pups mixed in. The ample rainfall over the last couple years has really helped the grass in that area, so the dogs have really grown in size. I ran my usual 22-250, 223 and 243. My longest shot was a first round hit at 537yds with a 87grn v-max out of my 243. I have always ran 55 v-maxs out of my 22-250, this year i tried a few 50s and 40s. I felt like either one was a big improvement over the old 55s, much more pop on impact! My closest shot was 90yds with a 40grn v-max out of the 22-250. Wow that made a mess! The wind wasn't terrible either, for most of the trip. I had 100 confirmed dead dogs. As a group we had 391. Good weather, good shooting, good friends. I'll get a couple pictures up later this evening.

Looks like a good time there. The 22-250 has always been a favorite. Love the pictures...
Kansas really is flat isn't it?!! I noticed no mountains...always wondered if I would get
claustrophobic in a place with no mountains...LOL :p:D. Guess it wouldn't matter if
there is some good shooting to be had. :D:D

Good pictures and looks like great weather! Doesn't look like the cows minded your shooting?
Were headed to South Dakota on the 30th. Looking forward to it!

Thanks. The cattle didn't care a bit. A few times we had to reposition our tables because the cattle were walking into our field of fire. The weather was good. One day it hit 100°, but it wasn't to bad with a 15mph cross wind.

I'm surprised how short the grass was, considering all the rain we've had this spring. Can I get any clues as to which county that's in? I'm not going to try moving in on it, just curious. I've got a permission on a couple places in Scott County but don't have the time to go shoot.

I forgot something.. Nice shooting.
