Went back to the same location as last night to see if I could score some more shed hogs. Sitting in the truck glassing the landscape and checking the shed to see if anything crawls out from underneath.
It's getting to be after 8 pm and nothing is showing up by the shed when I spot one off to my right at about 55 yards. It's on the other side of a tall wire fence and screened by some weeds. I can't shoot through the fence. I need to get some elevation. I stand on the running board. No good. I go to the back of the truck, lower the tailgate and get up to take a peek. I'm still not high enough for a shot.
Then I notice there's and opening in the fence behind the truck. I figure I can use the fence post as a rest to get a clear shot. So I get the 223 from its case, load up a 45 grain pill, creep back to the post, lower the crosshairs and lower the boom on the feeding ghog. Smack! Love that sound!! Another huge male. I weigh it. 11 lbs 5 oz. Wow!
That beats the two from last night and it's only 2 oz shy of the big PA hog I shot this past Tuesday. These hogs must have been chowing down for years to get this big! Here's the DRT and the exit wound.
I wonder if there could be more of these big pigs lurking around the premises??? You know I'm going to find out!
