My new Cambridge V4 Autotrickler/FX-300 powder dispenser

Couldn't resist, even after I was quite satisfied with my Hornady Auto Charge Pro.. The V4 is fairly expensive at around $1050, but it's FAST and HIGHLY accurate--meaning precise in its results and consistency.. Its displays of weight--in either grains or grams--are limited in grains to two decimal places (and three in grams), so you REALLY fussy guys might be frustrated with number like 55.37 grains and not more decimal positions.. The instructions puzzled me several times, but I got thru it all and have it running and tested.. Space on the panels of the scale is saved by operating it with a smartfone/tablet app; I found that where it was supposed to be and only about one minute later it was downloaded, installed, and communicating with the V4.

The app allows one to set the speed of both the high-speed and low-speed halves of the system (and much more); this takes little time so one could change those for each type of powder, and one may save up to five programs of these.

I picked up the set of 3d printed spacers for $20 to set angle of top for different powders. I load n570 to the exact kernal no problem.

Have had mine since they came out, and I love it.
But I don't think they are saving space, by having you use a smartphone. They are saving the cost of including a computer, by having you use your own computer.

Edit: I should have been more specific.. The space they saved was the space they did not have; IOW, a remote-entry system is the only practicable way they had to create an effective, affordable interface.. In any event, the system works well.

I also have the Hornady model and am on the fence about dropping this much coin to upgrade..
I mostly shoot XTC out to 600 yds and wondering if you guys think it’s worth the money as far as speed and accuracy over the Hornady??

Definitely worth the money for speed and accuracy

Cambridge is the same Canadian distributor i got mine from a long time ago..
They used to run a great sale and program for the A&D scale.

Thanks. I am just presuming the V4 Autotrickler is the one made by Adam MacDonald of MacDonald Innovations (same guy/company that makes the ShotMarker e-target system). Thanks for educating me as I’d never heard of Cambridge related to Adam’s machine. :)

Yes you will still need to get the Autotrickler from Adam, but you dont need to purchase the
scale necessarily, if its cheaper somewhere else........all works out in the end.

I don't believe the spacers are needed and I use a wide variety of powders with mine. I set the angle with the scale feet as Adam shows in his video. It works just fine. I have used a spacer in the past such as a business card, a coin or even layers of tape. I saw no difference in accuracy or speed. But that's me. You do you.

You may be totally correct. I am a little OCD. My thoughts are that A&D says that their FX-120I scale should be leveled with their built-in bubble level, and it seems that if you use the leveling feet of the A&D FX-120I scale to adjust the trickle speed of the Autotrickler that it might affect the accuracy and repeatability of the A&D scale when changing between different powders and returning to the original powder and load. It just seems that using the spacers on top of the A&D's top plate to adjust the Autotrickler would provide more consistency.

I have my A&D FX-120I. I'm waiting on my Autotrickler V4 (it is in shipment from Canada now). I considered the Autotrickler V4, SuperTrickler ST101 gen2, and the Ingenuity Powder System before ordering the Autotrickler V4. The only concern that I had with the Autotrickler V4 was having to adjust the A&D’s leveling feet to adjust the flow of the trickler flow of the AutoTrickler V4. It just seemed like a poor way to calibrate it’s flow. When I read of the shim kit available for a modest cost that removed my concerns and I chose the Autotrickler V4.

Like I said, you do you. But like I said I have tried both ways and it really doesn't matter. It didn't matter a bit. You think you'll get more consistent results than the guy who designed and builds the system... go for it. I won't judge.

The guy that designed the A&D FX-120I says that their scale is supposed to be leveled. To each is own. You do what you want with yours and I will do what I want with mine.
