My Idaho hunt w/son

My Idaho hunting w/oldest went very well, both happy campers.
1 whitetail doe. 4 coyote. 2 turkey.
This was a basic deer hunt w/him and me coyote calling for him.
Pre deer opening scouting day I called in 7 coyote for him and he dropped 4 and just like a kid couldn't be happier.
All taken w/my 6x45, farthest was 263 yards I howled at to stop.
These dogs were hard to get to show themselves in open fields and very skittish due to a ton of road hunter/atv guys driving all over heck.
Like me he goes for meat and although we missed an early 4x4 buck due to driving around a blind corner on a 2 track and had 5 deer 80 yards from us they all split when he stopped.
As we had a head of 20 or so does and forked horns in front of us a few hours later some idiot started shooting like a nut downrange from us and we didn't feel safe being up the gully from him. As we drove down from the upper fields this nut case was sighting in his gun at targets on a rotted tree pretty much straight down from us and 2 other hunters higher up.
He didn't stop as I honked coming down the 2 track.
Needless to say we were pretty PeeD off due to his uncaring I could care less attitude about what was behind his target. We laid into him when we drove up and stopped to tell him stop & look where you are shooting and he pretty much told us to FO, boy I tell you one of the other hunters behind us came very close to putting slug into him just over that attitude.
Man what a disappointment that fellow "hunter" who was sighting in was to all of us.
We left that area as I didn't want to be a hunting casualty in ID or any other place due to an idiot.
Every other ID hunter I talked to were a lot nicer & great guys/gals.

3 pm we came to our other spot and saw a few does out grazing and stalked above them w/the wind in our face. I set my son up and he dropped it at 275 yards w/his 7-08 & Barnes 140g bullet.
Yea as that happened 3 buck come trotting to the hill crest looked at us walking to it and spit...only we cant see through hills or would of stalked on them.
That's life, and he got his freezer filled a bit.
I took all of OCT. off and have already taken 11 coyote here in WY alone on the ranches I have.

Congrats on your hunt in ID (except for the run-in with the idiot), and congrats on your successful yotes in WY!!

As usual good stuff 5spd! Makes a guy feel good when your Son is all smiles! My Son usually out shoots me and I love it!!! ;D

5spd, Congrats on the deer, & Good Job on those coyotes!!!!!! Your pics look like it could be somewhere in N. Central Idaho. That's where I live. I'm glad to see someone going after those coyotes!!!! Idaho-45

Oh my, you are a traveling man. Great story and fun hunt.

That your son in the picture?

Many Eastern states do not allow "random" shooting during deer or other big game season. Range shooting only during that time. Guess in the big West, that's not usually an issue. You did good not pushing the issue after being told off. Never argue with a drunk or the mentally ill. There's no future in it.
