My decoy dog Jackson.

Jackson is a Kemmer Mountain Cur of awesome breeding.

They are used to track lion, bear, hogs, and coyotes. Jackson has already treed the wifes cat 3 times!

Here is Jackson's dad Huck on a lion! He's the blond dog.

Huck says, I can climb this tree!

He's 30 feet up going after this cat!

I can only hope that Jackson follows in his fathers steps!

Here he is a bit older, taken last month.

Here's Jackson treeing the wifes cat!

He should be ready for the field in about two months or so.

I use both scatter guns and rifles for my coyote hunting, I really love my 204's. I have a CZ 527 light weight for walking and a Remington VSSF II for rat popping.

Cal, the breeder shot the lion in the tree leaving Huck at the top.

Once the lion fell all Huck wanted to do was get down to it and the other dogs-he couldn't get down though because getting up in much easier than going down.

Cal had to climb the tree and drape Huck over his shoulders and climb back down.

Huck is a machine when it comes to hunting anything that doesn't fly! Jackson is one of his pups-he's going on 10 months old and will be decoying coyotes for me this fall.

Kemmer Cur's are some of the smartest dogs you'll ever encounter.

My pup was house broken his first week home, came on command, and was treeing the wifes cat at 4 months.

This line of Cur dog was perfected by Robert Kemmer who took Curs of special "talents and traits" and breed them along different lines until he got what he was looking for-a big game hunting and treeing machine with amazing grit and samina and a nose to rival any hound breed.

My goal is a dog that will decoy in coyotes, tree bob cats and lions, and with any luck run down pigs.

Chuck,

It works every where it's tried.

The territorial drive of the coyote makes them go stupid because all they want to do is chase that intruder dog off it's area or to eat it.

Check out the video clips I attached.

Can that dog fly? When that cat smacks it out of that tree.

As expensive as good dogs,Plott hounds) are, im glad mine stay grounded.

I am happy for you and your dog, but that cat was born with climbing gear and that dog was born with running gear.

I have seen just how fast a cat and/or a bear can move in a tree. Your wonderful dog want last very long in a tree fight. An Mr. Newton is not very forgiving. I know as I fell 22 feet from a tree 4 years ago. I broke my back in two places, broke both of my arms, all my ribs on my left side, collapsed my left lung and cracked my jaw. I wasn't fighting a cat or a bear. An no I can't flap hard enough.

That is absolutely bad to the bone. What type or breed were the decoy dogs?

If he has as much heart as his sire, your biggest challenge will be to keep him from shredding a coyote. That is an interesting breed of dog.

We lost a real good Blue-Tic a few years back that fell from a tree going after a coon.Broke his back.To lose the dog is sad enough, but the fact that he was still trying to get the coon and "barking treed" while dragging his back end still brings tears to my eyes today.Thought it was something at the time..SUPER DOG...No more tree climbing dogs for me...

Good Dog..There are a lot of em in this area....I had one a few yrs bak...His name was,,, Amos' Mountain "Zipper"....when he was 10wks olk he would walk around in the yard looking up in the trees,,,he didnt know what he was lookin for...but he was a lookin.....soon he discovered squirrels and I live in a large woods full of hickory trees ...you know how many squirrels I have ..hahaha........the dog was always treed ....he would kill all the groundhogs and snakes on the place....play with the kids and ride in the car...would load easily ....he was brindle...my fav color....if ur lookin for one come to the Washington WV area ....their bark is unforgettable....like any good treeing hound........they will kill the coyote before they let him follow them home......Roger

Rustystud-

I wouldn't know where to begin on training a dog to go up a tree after a lion. I hope it's a trait my pup doesn't have!

It's all hart.

I do agree that the lion in the tree has the advantage, if it's smart enough to figure that out with 3-5 hounds baying at him and one on it's way up.

The dogs in the video were Kemmer Mountain Curs and one Rotwiller,SP?).
