I bought a BAT B Dasher here in September, after 6 months it finally arrived from the FFL..

BAT B action, Jewel 2 oz trigger, Shehane ST1000 Tracker stock, 6mm 8 twist barrel chambered as Dasher.

I will replace the barrel with a Krieger 6mm 7.5 twist chambered in 6XC.

this barrel will be rechambered in 6m BR Norma and put on my Stiller Predator.

and I got some bullets with it... 105 and 108gr Bergers, and Barts Ultra for my ppc that will arrive sometime this year...

shipping a rifle from the USA is about as much trouble as transporting a nuke...

USPS, UPS, FedEX, TNT and DHL all denied shipping the rifle.. ended up with air cargo, was charged $1085 for shipping, then I got the invoice from the freight company with the customs papers.. actual shipping was only $365..

wondering what I should do about the $700+ I was overcharged...

is it legal in the USA to charge 3x actual shipping ?

packing was charged sepperately $100 and the freight company picked up the shipment so the ffl only did an online preorder for the freight.

Wow. You would have been much better off having someone remove the stock and barrel and shipping the pieces separately through USPS or UPS. Then declare as "gun parts" instead of gun.

I did ask the FFL to do that, he said that would be no problem, they had done it twice before, in both cases something got lost... so they would take no responsibility.. and I could deduct $116 from the shipping cost...

I think it's a ripoff.. I can get a round trip with 2 nights at a Seattle hotel for $1000 so I could have picked up the rifle and had a vacation to for the same price...

Yeah i think your FFL might be up to something. UPS will insure for whatever amount you insure it for and I have never had problems getting my money on a claim other than it took a little longer than I wanted.

I just looked up USPS to Iceland and if you split it up into 3 packages that are 5 pounds each, 4"X4"x32" your looking at $45 each priority mail which is 6-10 days.

I shipped an item to Austrailia not long ago, it was $69 and he got it fairly quickly. My post office doesnt seem to care what it is as long as its not liquid or breakable.

Not trying to aggrevate, but you may want to find someone else to deal with in the States next time around.
