My automated Forster 3-in-1 Case Trimmer

Very clever and nicely executed. I like the "L"-tipped horizontal rod that pushes the power button. Nice finishing of the wood "chassis" for the power drill -- looks like it slides very smoothly. This must be a big time-saver!

One note -- watch for "drift" of your COAL as the inline fine-adjust set-screw on the lock-ring wears down. With the RPMs you're using that little set-screw (used to fine-tune cut length) can grind down a couple thousandths. This will eventually alter your cut length.

You can set that up to turn necks if you want w/ the Forster Neck Turner in place of the 3-way. It will do a good job too, you might want to slow rpms down to about 200 rpms or slower. If your drill isn't variable speed, you can probably find a speed reducer for it. I use this setup on a small lathe to turn necks at 174 rpms. It doesn't get too hot at that speed. You have a nice setup.

Nice work. ^^^^ is important. My RCBS trimmer did the same thing and it has TWO set screws. Chews up the brass really fast :)

I swapped my drill out for an old B&D 1/2 drill that only has a low speed. Been using that one for a few years but I think I should try something like your mount.

Your unit rates a DIY gold medal! Very thoughtful execution. With this set-up, what is + or - on trim length? Do you experience case mouth out-of-square with the flexable aluminum base? I've considered using a flex shaft to power my Forster but have been concerned with the above questions. Just wondered about your results. Again, excellent job!
