My Arkansas Buddies

As you know my brother had a great time in Pencil Bluff. Problem is, he took home a buddy. Taking a shower after getting home he noticed a tick on his A$$. He got sick a couple days later and was diagnosed with Lymes Disease. He said it was a tough way to lose 15lbs in 10 days. He is doing well and the Doc said he should be fine within a month.
He had such a great time that he is looking forward to next year.

When you leave Tickville, strip to bare a$$ nek-ed and do a once over with a friend or a mirror. Take a break about every 4 hours to check for ticks. Leave your clothes outside, little blood sucking bast••ds aren’t welcome in the house. Inspect before putting those clothes back on.

Better yet, spray your socks, and pants from the bottom up to the height of vegetation you will be in with Repel Permenone. You won't be bothered by ticks or redbugs. Don't spray it on your bare skin, just your clothes.

Early deer season is usually tick city so before hunting season, I take a five gallon bucket and soak all of my hunting clothes including underwear and hats in a Permethrin solution. Let them air dry outside. Full strength is available from Tractor Supply, Amazon and farm and feed stores. Never brought a tick home.
OR for considerably more money, just buy this stuff and spray everything you wear.

I wish your brother a speedy recovery. I was diagnosed in 1996 after a year of mystery symptoms that put me in the hospital a few times. I recovered, but still have reoccurring symptoms from time to time.
If you haven’t had lymes, you can get a vaccination to help prevent it. I’m sure it’s expensive, but after the misery I went thru, (I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy) I can honestly say, the price would worth it.

Butch,
Sorry to hear that. I check for ticks when I'm in the Arkansas woods, found a few but luckily have never been
sick with a bite. Must be the tonic that Ray and I take in the evenings around the camp fire!! Maybe next year
I will practice a little before hand so I don't shoot so badly.
It is always good when the Texicans come to our Arkansas State shoot. Good times, Good friends and good
fellowship.
Best Regards,

Joe, it wasn't Tom's lack of tonic, but he only imbibed after the shooting stopped.
