MWVMS website goes online

Since the demise of the VHA, what was the VHA Midwest Regional varmint match has continued to live on as the MWVMS Midwest Regional. The new MWVMS website went live this week. This is a group of avid VFS (varmint for score) shooters who attend specific varmint type matches in the Midwest region. No memberships necessary. Just come and shoot with us at the various ranges in the Midwest. The matches all feature cash winner's purses. See this website for details;

2017 marked the introduction of the MWVMS Shooter of the Year award. It was won this year by Ron Goodger ('Long Range' Goodger), dubbed the X-man by the group. Ron racked up an impressive (for these targets) 94 X's for the season. The second most was Dallas Walker with 56. See website for details.RonWithSHoTYrPlaqueEdited.jpg

Congratulations Ron - excellent shooting!

Sure nice to see the old Varmint Hunter even mentioned. My membership is still "good". Good for nuttin'.

Like the shoot idea.

Congrats Ron. Dallas Walker is a good guy too, but it didn't look like he had a chance in catching you!!

Dallas certainly had a BIG chance of catching me. Score totals are not dependent on X's on these targets. It all boiled down to that last match. Any of the top 5 guys on the list could have taken it.

I didn't concentrate on X's in that last match. I had to be VERY careful not to throw a shot out at 400 yards and get a zero, so I shot at the center of the oval ten ring rather than the X ring as I usually do.

I plan on updating the yearly stats pages with range records (highest point totals, highest X count and most wins) when I have time. It won't be surprising to see Dallas in some of those! He's the most amazing 80+ year old shooter I've ever seen.
