muzzle breaks

am sure this has been asked elsewhere but, here goes. want to install a side baffle, ports on top, blank on bottom brake on a rem sendero 338 rum with factory ss bbl .830'sh @ muzzle. one company in the n.w. kinda gave me the finger and one in a central state won't blend the rear of the brake to match muzzle dia. where and who do i look for to preform this small task? i see alot of sticks w/ brakes that have no shoulder where brake meets barrel. any refferals? thanks in advance, laura

Hello,

Contact Darryl Holland. He has done several radial brakes for me on 338 RUM Remington Sendero Rifles as well as a 300 Dakota XP-100 pistol. In short they work so well that you can use a rifle scope on the 300 Dakota pistol without any worries about getting "bit".

James.

holland was the first we contacted. answered our e-mails promptly but was unable to get a definitive answer to our request to match rear of brake to muzzle dia. i left with the feeling that the brakes they list on their site are all that's available. shame, i like the looks of the qd brakes tho they are not available in stainless.

When you find the brake you want,Call Hart Barrels.Jim blended two SS Vais Brakes for me,so you can't see the seam.(every time it's installed).First time glass beaded, and then polished for the second.

I had two installed by Jim at Hart rifles and one by Kevin at Stockade rifle stocks. Both were done flawlessly. Both were done in a reasonable amount of time.
I sent a rifle to Holland a couple of years ago and he had it for six months and didn't touch it. Sent it to Hart and had it rebarrelled, timed and trued and had it back in good time. I was very dissatisfied with Holland and his service. Kept telling me it would be done next week.
Kevin at Stockade is a great guy and would give you a really quick turn around time.
If you are a good gunsmith it is not a big deal to fit a brake and have it blend into the barrel so you can't see the joint.
