muzzle brakes ?

I'm putting together a new rifle in 6x47, 30 in barrle. Do any of you think that a muzzle brake would be beneficial to this caliber for competition use in either 600 or 1000yd events ?? If so what make or a custom ?
Thank you..
Dave

Most muzzle brakes are used for limiting the muzzle rise while varmint hunting so you are able to see the bullet impact. Not a real necessity for target work though.
I like them for varmints and I like the looks also. You might check on Farrell, Vias, or what I use the most- Hollands Quick Discharge....

See if the type of competition you are going to shoot allows muzzle brakes. If it does, are you recoil sensitive. If not recoil sensitive there is no need for it other than looks.

Dave,
You don't need one, Especially if you are shooting prone. Brakes are for mostly hunting rifles to tame the punch or allow you to see your hits on diggers. I am having a break put on a CZ .204 as we speak so I can see the diggers explode!!

Got my gun back from Ron Bartlett at Vias Arms today. The muzzle break looks great. I really hopes the break helps with the muzzle flip on this very light CZ .204. I am going to shoot it in the AM.
