Muzzle Brake Thread and Size

I have a Remington 700 Long Range in .300 win mag. The muzzle measures 0.808. what size diameter and thread size should I order? I did a search and I didn't see any questions with the same diameter muzzle. After researching, I thought I wanted 5/8 x24, but one vendor recommend an 11/16 x 32. Now I'm a little confused. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I've never owned anything (besides an AR) with a brake so this isn't my suggestion but.....

I'd put a 3/4-24 brake on. More meat you leave around the bore, the less likely you are to have an affect. Professionally installed brake from IdahoCTD is my recommendation. I know his recommendation of 5/8 is more common.

I did a 280 AI with a 5/8-24 and I used that thread for my 6.5saum also,
dang I hope i don't get the trombone effect o_O:(

Lots of them done in 5/8 and most have no problem. I just use 3/4 whenever I can to add insurance. Also, both of your bores are smaller than 308.

I think I'll start using a 13/16-32 for mine because that's the one I used for my tuner.
now my OCD is telling me to pull some barrels and start rethreading:confused:

I was just thinking I need some deltonic or deltronic? pin gauges and realized I have some 7mm bushings that will tell me if I have any flaring.

The number if threads per inch isn't important. The finer the threads the harder it is to time because it rotates more degrees per thousandth. Not a big deal if you buy one of the timeable ones. The thread pitch is chosen by the muzzle brake manufacturer and the smith just matches it on the barrel. --Jerry

Yes I haven't needed to time any yet. I've been thinking about a harrels though.
I have been getting smaller bored than what it's going on and smaller threads and reboring and threading to what I want so I know it's true to the bore and the thread i wanted also.
Thanks

What do you think about 3/4-32 for a tuner or brake?

Op Sorry if I slightly derailed the thread

if you've got a brake threaded in 3/4-32, then the thread is just fine. It is no harder to cut 32 tpi threads than any other. you may have to custom order your brake unless a manufacturer has recognized that tuners are using that thread and started making them. --Jerry
