Muzzle Brake Replacement Question

Got a friend who just bought a 1977 Winchester Model 70 in 30-06 in fair shape. It needs some TLC. Problem is the 20 inch barrel has a muzzle brake and he would like to remove it and replace it with a “blank” muzzle brake. It’s not a BOSS or KDF. Here’s a pic. Assuming he can remove it and determine the thread pitch, is there anyone who makes replacement blanks?

It looks like he can unscrew the knurled end piece, then unscrew the brake, and finally screw the knurled end on as a thread protector. Worth a try before taking it to a gunsmith.
