Muzzle brake on a 6BR??

Thinking about another barrel on my "other" Savage. Who has a 6BR with a muzzle brake? How does it work for you?
The recoil is not a problem but I can't see my hits at 100 yards. 330 yards gets a little better. Does a brake make "that" much of a difference for you?? Opinions please! And thanks for the input. Mike.

I know what they are "supposed" to do,but what do the folks that have them think of them? Got one on a .223 but really can't tell any difference. The larger the caliber the more the reduction in recoil?? 6BR is not that big but what difference do they make in the "real world"??

If you compete, your fellow competitors will not be happy campers.
I absolutely hate shooting beside them! At our last Ground Hog Match I shot on the bench beside a .338 Lapua equipped with a clam shell brake. It wasn't pleasant for me at all! I had to watch him, and if he had his finger in the trigger guard I wouldn't shoot! We doubled once on the sighter at 300M and it threw my shot 4 inches high! Talk about turbulance. So when it came to the record I had to be darn careful. Even with ear protection it hurt, not to mention all the dust and dirt blown my way. Liked the guy, hated his rifle.

The configuration of the stock plays some part in seeing the hits or not at closer ranges...I did a pair of heavy Savage barrels in 243 & 22 250 The gunsmith threaded The ends to fit a Shrewd muzzlebrake...First trails it was hit or miss seeing the steel targets fall at 200 yds..Maybe 2 out of 5 times with the 243 barrel on that gun..I added a homemade recoil reducer & that tamed it right down...The tube is fitted into the buttstock & it weights just 8ozs..It makes a big diff in the felt & seen effect..The noise is just unbeilivable..Really gets your attention...I'd add a muzzle brake to any gun I'm using on varmints just to see the hits..For a dedicated bench gun no..out in the field it really is something to be able to see the hits..mike in ct

Man... and here I just decided I didn't need a brake on my .300 RUM... That'll teach me!

Seriously though - it would be cool to be able to see the bullet impact through the scope... Good idea! Guy

I have brakes on a 6BR & and a 6BRX, they work great. you can see your hits at 500 yds.

Mark . Hits, seeing;)) at long distance are not a problem. It's the close ones,100 yds.) where the problem comes in. The jump of the rifle is what makes me loose the sight picture. Like I said, the recoil in not really a problem. Could be a lot worse.
Just would like to see the hits up close. Could be stock configuration too. Maybe a little more weight might help. Just looking for opinions and what other folks think. Might have a brake installed that is removable. That way I would know for sure. Mike.
