Muzzle brake for spotting shots?

Shooting a 308 with bipod and rear bag- having a hard time spotting hits- or misses- because of recoil/muzzle jump.

Have read/watched video on proper form to spot shots, keeping everything in line, tight in shoulder, loading the bipod etc- still not getting back on target in time to spot shots.

The recoil of the rifle doesn't bother me at all- just wanting to see hits or splashes when a spotter isn't available.

Ideally looking for muzzle jump reduction without a massive increase in report- suggestions?

The insite Heathen and 419 brakes are excellent.
Heather in noticeably less blasty.

I don’t subscribe to the loaded bipod theory, instead lock buttpad into shoulder with a bit of rearward pull straight back with grip hand.
Besides that pull everything else as relaxed as possible.
Body position and rifle set up is another biggie.
Comfortable and straight back with shoulders squared with rifle.

Done right spotting even with my 338 is easy

Granted- everything is a trade off- is there a type/style of brake that is slightly less obnoxious than others?

Good advice and info from all. Would add that DISTANCE to the target is a huge factor in spotting your own shots. Varmint hunted solo with unbraked 30's for a number of years. Under field conditions, rifle properly driven, I could usually recover well enough to spot impacts beyond 200yds. Although the difference in time is only milliseconds it was difficult to recover sufficiently to consistently see the close impacts. However, the big pills usually lifted enough sod to know what happened even if the actual instant of impact was not observed. Good brakes work really well on jump and recoil reduction, but be prepared to deal with the noise and distraction of the additional blast you will experience.

There are a number of variables involved, your shooting technique being only one of them. The heavier the load, the lighter the gun and the closer the distance, the harder it is to spot your shots. Then there is the condition of the soil surrounding your target. Hard to spot shots in wet soil. Want to be able to spot your shots, smaller caliber like 6mm in a heavier gun at longer distances and dry soil will give you a better chance. You may even be able to see your own bullet trace. I see it occasionally in my 6BRA. Can follow it all the way to the target.

I'm shooting 90% off a bench and even when paying close attention to form etc the rifle often hops just enough to miss the impact. When shooting at steel I can get back on soon enough to see the target swing, sometimes catch a splash but if I happen to miss it's another story. Shooting in IA where the ground is often at least damp and there just isn't enough disturbance to see where a miss goes. Especially in tricky wind conditions this makes it almost impossible to know how to compensate on the next shot.

Couple of things that will help.

Add a muzzle brake, large ports angled back reduce recoil the most but make it loud.
Add weight to the rifle.
Reduce the magnification of the optic.

What you cant fix is age, older eyes take longer to re-focus.
