Here is a recent analysis of the effect of world events on ammunition and reloading component supplies:

I shoot exclusively 223 for my ARs and bolt gun. I'm very well stocked in both loaded rounds along with everything to reload a great deal more. Every month I buy a couple more pounds of powder, a couple bricks of primers and 500 bullets.

The bolt gun allows me to shoot pretty much every day, yet using far less total rounds than the AR's.

Stock up guys!

I primarily shoot the 223 these days, all in bolt rifles. I get 280 reloads in a 1 lbs. canister of powder. My typical centerfire range session is 10 -12 rounds, 5 -6 at 100 and 5-6 at 200. I am at the rifle range about 2 to 3 days a week and spend about 2 hours.

I was at my local shot last week and they had a large supply of some powders, primers, and bullets (Nosler / Hornady). These days it is wise to have alternate loads. While I prefer H4895, haven't seen it in a long time. My alternate load is with Varget and they had plenty of that, so I purchased some and a 250 pack of 55 Nosler BT.

Just want to add that maybe if the suppliers reduced the number of reloading powders to 10 or so there would be plenty of powder available. I can remember long ago when about 5 IMR powders would cover any conceivable cartridge that I would want to reload for. Of course, I know that will never happen, it makes too much sense, at least to me.

Yes, but the current shortages started before any of the current conflicts started. Primers started drying up during the Obama administration. Obama put a ban on imported primers from "Russia".

I also didn't notice there there was much of a shortage through the first Iraq war back in the 1990s, Kuwait, or the second Iraq war after 911, or the war in Afghanistan. Certainly not like now. Not even close.

No. This is something different.

Everyone in Europe is uparming because of Russia. China Controls the guncotten market. Then there's the middle east. Last and certainly not least our own government wants to disarm us. WHAT COULD GO WRONG. I have ALWAYS bought as much as I could when I could . That's never going to change.

Be smart, shop around, support the LGS first, quit complaining about prices, buy it when available, not going to get back to the old days, or even prices ,the last couple of years. Demand and lack of availability will continue to drive prices.

Have a great day.
