multiple Shot Markers in line...

practice and load development... not competition...

for the same shooter...

Any reason that Shot Markers cannot be placed at different distances, e.g., 100 yards, 200 yards, 600 yards, and 1,000 yards, with the only paper target being at one place, e.g., 1,000 yards,

so the same bullet passes through each and the shooter can see what is happening to his group at each distance ?

Greetings,
It would certainly work, but.... You would have some serious work to build frames that you can elevate to match your bullets trajectory and its maximum ordinate.

figured it would have to be at a private permanent location.

with recording windometers added, could it substitute for a wind tunnel ?

would putting the paper target at 100 yards be better than a 1,000 ?

would passing through the paper target throw the bullets off ?

If wind effects the bullet 2 or three paper targets would. Just my two cents Tommy Mc.

Why put your paper in the shorter frames??? The system does not need a paper target to register the shot. Just line up frames so the bullet passes through all you frames while you aim at the last one.. Which will not be easy because with a 100 yard zero, your bullet drop on a typical cartridge is going to be 25 to 28 feet of drop. 6.5 Creed is kind of the middle of the road and drops 7 feet from 100 yards to 600yards and about 25 feet or so going to 1000 yards. Your middle target a 500 or 600 yards is going to have to be 25 feet above line of sight, or two stories high.....
Have you thought about this?

Agree no paper is needed. Bullet height versus drop, though, is not going to equal the amount of come ups put on the scope. Maximum height is only a fraction of come ups dialed in on the scope.

… the bullets would drop “that far” below the point of aim if shot “straight on” with no adjustment at a target at those given distances, but by arcing it upward and then it coming back down, all as it covers distance, it doesn’t need to go up nearly as high as it would “fall”, with no adjustment.

Yes, it works. Did it a couple of years ago. Just a picture frame the bullet passes through at the short distances and a standard LR target at 1000. It was informative.

Did you do any kind of a report or write up on this? This would be great information to share.

Click on it once more. Here’s the bullet rise to a 1,000 yard zero of my typical load. Max hight about 500 - 600 yards out,

That would be the rough max height any one system would need to exceed the height of the final target, for that load example.

And if you had a 100 yard zero instead, this would be your come up on exactly the same load.

Come ups are not an approximation of maximum bullet height, along its trajectory.

Yes sir you are correct. I was 100% mistaken and stand corrected, thank you. It would be much less than 25 feet and more like 12 feet depending on bullet and velocity combo.
I reached out to someone much smarter than my self and indeed i was wrong. With that large piece of crow i ate fresh in my mouth, its still quite a bit higher above line of sight, and what is going to be the next issue is getting a frame nice and stable at that extra height. A solid frame is very important to make these systems function correctly. So if you have say a 6'x6' frame right on the ground your 600 yard frame will need to be 12 feet higher than your 1000 yard target. I guess if i was going to do it i would plant 16 foot 6x6 teated lumber in the ground, and mount the sensors to them. The other distances will be much easier to work with. That middle one is going to be a bear.

Even three points, e.g., 50 yards (essentially no wind effect), 100 yards, and 1,000 yards, would be enlightening.

Personally i like 100, 600 and 1000yds all in the same shot or group of shots. once you start doing this stuff you realize how much elevation changes in your particular land actually has! Well shoot...it sure looked flat... But the laser level or transit shows a 5 foot depression in the middle of your range. Very aggravating, especially if you trying to line up 3 targets in a row over a 1/2 mile worth.
