Mr. Remington-Mike Walker

Among the icons of Benchrest, I would be amiss if I left out Mr. Mike Walker. He lived more than 100 years and contributed so much to our sport. I met him at the Super Shoot when he was about 95 years old. I should have interviewed him, but his hearing was so poor that I decided to not try. Like many of our icons, he was a humble man and he came close to getting his 10 points for the Hall of Fame. He was inducted as an honorary member for his many contributions. That might have been 2005 James. That was my first time going to Kelblys.
I remember seeing Mike down there and I also met you.

Heck Joe, were you old enough to drive then?

James I believe 2005 was the year you interviewed some of us at the Supershoot upstairs at Kelblys. Ron Hoehn won the Supershoot.

I think I met Mr Walker that year at a Nationals in Pennsylvania. Shook his had but not much conversation. He was trying to get his 10th point for the HOF I believe.

I was lucky to buy 2 of Mike's favorite rifles from him. His mod37 that now belongs to a forum member and his 722 hunting rifle in 257 Roberts that now belongs to Wyman Meinzer. I have 2 of his personal reloading presses that he made from receiver bodies. I for small base cartridges and the other for 308 size. I was also able to get 2 scopes from him, one of 3 internal adjustable BR scopes and also the prototype. Mike had a great mechanical brain.
