MPA rifle - 6BR or 6 Creed

My 6br with a 105 Amax and IMR4895 is running 2860fps out of a 28" barrel, Lapua brass. I've shot PRS and prairie dogs with this set up.
Getting a 26" 6br barrel from Bradley soon. This one may get Peterson brass, also availability will be a factor.

Your smith / dealer is leading you in a good direction. Unfortunately components for both cartridges are equally difficult to obtain, at the moment. The deciding factor could be to try sourcing components first, and build the rifle in the chambering you could procure for. Neither cartridge will be holding you back for quite a while.

Lapua and Alpha make brass for nearly every PRS cartridge. Either is fantastic quality and will last more firings than your barrel can handle (200pcs) at reasonable pressures.

I would personally use a BR family cartridge, since that is what all of the best guys are shooting. Pick what works, and you will also be able to use reference points from the top guys when you are fortunate enough to squad with them. Also, a good tip is to squad with the Pro’s in 1-day matches whenever possible.

I have the MPA Hybrid chassis in stock.

If you have a Remington 700 compatible action, I can supply the barrel (my barrels are about $350 threaded).
Might save you some time and money.

For a repeater I suggest the 6xc or 22xc. The 6 Credmoor is good but is really overkill.

I know people (good shooters) that strayed away from the 6br
when the 6.5 x47 did better in conditions. One now is shooting
the 25x47 using the 131gr Black Jack.
I went from a 6brx to a 6.5 x 47. All I gained was more recoil, similar wind drift, and more e pensive components while giving up a bit of accuracy. Went back to the BRX. Pretty easy , accurate, proven case in the 6BR in any variant.

Ahhh.....If I recollect, and you and I were both there. Ethan took home
the bacon with his 6.5x47. It was a bit windy that day if I recall.....LOL
I'll see If I can get him to come down and do a repeat, if a PRS match
is'nt scheduled up in Cranberry. He's got a new build for Ridgway, and
is staying with the 6.5x47. This is going to be a good season.....

Ethan shot well, quit picking on him Fuj. Think how bcould he could be with a good 6.
He's like me and prefers a heavier cannon. but with him
shooting a 12 lb gun at Ridgway, he'll be competing with
our other friends shooting Dashers. That may lean him to
the dark side, but since I have him doing my barrels, He may
go to one of my wild cats. He just let me know, the new ELF
barrel will be done tomorrow. No rest for the wicked.....

I consider this debate from a power to weight perspective... Much like a fast car.

When you look at the most popular F Class cartridge's used for F Open, there is a consistency to the power to weight which hovers around one third of the bullet weight... and the bullet weight is among the heaviest available for the caliber.

So when I consider the 6 Creed, I find it too hot as compared to the ideally balanced 6.5 Creed.

The 6BR is well under the one third ratio and I prefer that to something considerably over. The advantage is in the efficiency of the powder charge and the clean burning fast burning powder used in smaller cases.

Having said that, I consider the 6x47L to be ideal but only if you run large primer brass that you can easily form from 6XC brass. I tried SRPs in the 6x47L and could not keep consistent velocities over temperature variation which tells me it is under ignited. But with large primers, that finicky crap is off the table and the round performs very well.

In my opinion, the closer you can get to one third of 115 grains (38.3 grains of powder) in a 6mm the better off you will be, but you are better off under the one third bullet weight than you are reaching for speed and going over the one third powder charge.
