Motor Help

I'm looking to make a couple of my pieces of reloading equipment motorized.
1. Wilson case trimmer
2. 21st century neck turner

I feel pretty confident in my ability to make a sliding track, bracket for the motor, and wire up speed controls and power supplies. But I'm having a tough time sizing an appropriate motor for both tasks. Wilson recommends around 100 rpm for the case trimmer and 21st says not to exceed 300 rpm.

I found a motor with a plate rating of 300 rpm and 24 in/lbs of torque. Can anyone talk to weither this would be enough motor for the job? If not could you recommend an appropriately sized motor? I like the option of going up to the 300 rpm to use with the neck turner and I can reduce the speed for the case trimmer.

Thank you

Beefy,
Does it give you a horse power rating and is it a/c or Dc?... 2’lbs isn’t much torque especially for turning might be ok for trimming .I have a lot of motor data at work but not sure about that small. If you could tell me how many watts I can convert it to hp

The nameplate shows 1/7 hp DC motor 24V
Thank you

Beefy,
I did some calculating for ya my cordless 4v Ryobi screwdriver has 5 newton meters of torque and does ok until you start into shoulder and it’s real marginal of having enough power. And 5nm works out to about 44 inch pounds.
24 inch lbs works out to 2.7 Nm just a comparison for ya

Dc motors are very Torquey I’ll look at your specs tomorrow at work, physically is it as big as your fist?

Thank you for your help the size I was given is the motor housing is 9 inches long and 5 inches wide about a 2 inch long shaft

Match made in heaven

To the inexperienced eye it seemed like a beast I was surprised to see the torque rating that low
Well the absolute worse case scenario is it won’t work but you will have your setup built and just have to find a Beefier motor BeefyT11
I like your idea and bet it works well for ya.

Do you have any recommendations on more appropriate sized motors? Or minimum torque ratings I should shoot for? Would you recomend the electric screwdriver route?

I’ll do some digging tomorrow for ya. im close to 60 and been a cattleman and Electrician/Millwright all my life so I been beat up plenty and these old arthritic thumbs loves the screwdriver for turning, I still use the Wilson for trimming and don’t plan on changing but may adapt the cordless screwdriver for it, I like the factory Wilson as it’s got a feel to it idk if I could feel with power to it. I like your idea better if works.

Come to think of it I bought a power adapter for the Wilson a few years back and never used it!.... I’ll try to locate it and see what it does. I have a rcbs power trimmer that I don’t like the job it does but it sure don’t lack on hp I’ll see what it’s rated at tomorrow when I head to the ranch

I appreciate it, if you wanna sell that lemme know ;)

I adapted my RCBS power head and plate to use a Wilson trimmer, just had to make some spacers to raise the motor/gearhead and drill and tap a couple of screw holes for the Wilson trimmer, used the flex coupler that came from the RCBS.
Took about an hour and works great.
