most lethal deer bullet in the 240 weatherby mag?

Guys, was looking for 6mm bullet opinions that are based from actual kills firsthand or witnessed. Getting ready to load for whitetails and wanted something that killed like lighting. I have heard stories about the vlds and no blood also various issues with some 6mm bullets on deer. For many years i have shot big pills at deer and am more than happy. Just wanted to try something different. Gun is a 240 weatherby mag 10 twist 24 in barrel. Factory series 2 vangaurd. Been shooting chucks with a 55 noslers and its impressive as all get out. Looking for very good trajectory also. Meat damage not an issue to me either. Thanks in advance..

With a 10t barrel id give the new speer 85g spbt. Pretty decent bc on the new bullet. Ive shot several white tails up north here with the 85g spbt and hpbt. They work like a charm.

I like the Nosler Partition in 6mm and just happen to have two boxes for sale! :) Seriously, they do a job. Penetration, expansion and weight retention. I have shot several with the Nosler Partitions. I shot a real good buck at a rangefinder verified 300 yards using the Nosler Partition in .243, fired from a Savage 510F hand cannon/ Leupold 2-7. The buck made it about 25 yards.

THE BEST bullet for deer, period in my experience is a Barnes TTSX. There are a lot of good bullets, but until someone comes up with another radical change, the TTSX is absolutely the best. I've killed literally hundreds of deer up to 250# on the hoof with a lot of different bullets but nothing else comes close. Penetration, wound channel, blood trail (usually not needed),shock, AAAA+++++. I've shot them with every thing from a 223 w/62 gr TSX to a 300WSM with a 130 gr TTSX. One went 30 yds with a blood trail that a blind person could follow, EVERY other one was DRT. No other bullet has the energy transfer of this one.

My 240 WBY loves the 95 gr ballistic tips. I've killed several deer with them and they don't go far! They are very accurate with RL 22 or H4831. I'm getting just under 3400 fps with a 26" barrel out of my Mark V.

My brother and his wife use the 95 berger hunting vlds for antelope and deer and have had nothing but excellent results. She shot a nice big mulie with them at reasonable yardage, 200 yds. and he was dead on his feet for about 10 yds,. downhill. They use a .240 mark v with i believe is the ultra light model , 24" barrel. Exceptional accuracy and lethal.

I second the Barnes TTSX's. Very lethal and I have never seen deer die quicker. And you'll be driving them fast with a .240 Weatherby Mag.

I don't know what 100 grn bullet Federal uses in the 243WIN, but with every deer I have shot with them, I get no more than 6 inches of penetration. Even shot one in the neck directly under the jaw bone junction, that bullet came unglued to say the least. It ruined both front shoulders with fragments that followed under the hide. I want to load a better bullet. Anybody ever try the AMAX for hunting?

If any of the above mentioned are any better than the good ole tried and true Sierra 85gr HPBT one wouldn't be able to stand it. I've been fortunate enough to have taken quite a few deer with multiple caliber rifles and multiple bullets, but the 85gr HPBT out of a 243 or 6mm Rem. is still my pick of the litter. Works darned well on wild hogs too. ;) WD

The amax is a killing machine as well is the Barnes ttsx. I'm sticking with Barnes though. I shot a 243 ttsx in a rifle and 243 pistol both at 200 into a gallon jug of water backed by 3- 2 1/2" wet phone books. both bullets expanded to the same diameter which was double the original. The pistol didn't expand as far down the shank as the rifle did but they otherwise looked identical. Rifle penetrated 2 phone books pistol penetrated 1 and 1/2.

The 85 gr TTSX makes a marginal caliber 6mm round into a real killing machine, anyone who hasn't tryed them should do themselves a favor & buy a box. You won't look back. Superior shock, penetration. Nothing better.

Has anybody had any field experience with the Nosler 90 grain Etip on game. My 6x47 Lapua shoots them lights out as it does the TSX but I haven't shot any game with anything but the Speer 85 grain bullets which have performed flawless for me on antelope. Tom

amax and the ballistic tip are awesome for deer. there are others that are great too depending on range but are not as inherently accurate as these two if you want to stretch your range a bit

with a 24 inch barrel and the 95 grain bullets how fast are the moving ?i assume with good shooting rifle and ballanced loads humain kills to 400 yards are possible but any thing past say 450 is not going to be going fast enought to provide enough speed to exspand a bullet to humainly kill a deer.am i right on this

With the 1;10 twist you could try the BadLands Bulldozer II 80gr MONO'S, I have shot them and they shoot great. You should get full penetration. with it. Check them out on Facebook they have some kill photo's of both animals and bullets.
