Mossberg MVP Varmint rifle

Last November some time, at a local gun store I saw a person looking at this new Mossberg rifle. Came back next day to look at it and it was gone.
Have been trying to get one since, but no one any where seems have any of these MVP rifles. Called Mossberg and got a complete run around. Are these rifles completely unavailable?

Just did a quick search on Gunbroker. 6 of them on this page:

Am trying to find out if the guns are available thru regular retail, not used or traded. My local gun stores can not find any available and Mossberg is not responding in any way if or any thing!

The local gunshop/pawnshop here in Cheyenne has 2 of them on the rack, been there for a few months now. They are new as the gunshop section aint "pawn" stuff. I know not the calibers though.
PM me if you want me to check on them or I can give you their phone #, cant say if they will ship to your ffl though.
They both look like twins w/ the grey laminated stock.

The Gunbroker link that I posted shows all the rifles to be new except one. The sellers will all ship to a local FFL holder. There is a page on Gunbroker where you can enter your zip code and find a list of local FFL holders willing to accept the rifle and do the paper work for you. It is a great way to buy a new gun at a reasonable price, so long as you know what you are wanting to buy. If you need to hold one in your hands first, then Gunbroker is not an option.

Bud's has the 18" for $569 shipped.

Sports Authority has the .223 cal, 18" one out here for $499.99 regular price.
I handled it today and its not bad at all IMO. Smooth enough bolt w/spiral fluting, easy to remove.
Magazine release not that bad for my big fingers either.
Stock is to short for my build (6' & long arms) IMO could use another 2" for me.
Light & swings very nicely.

Just a thought, will the MVP with a thumbhole stock[pistol grip] and a 30 round mag get the attention of
big brother?

Its not like there are not any other bolt guns with bottom metal & large magazines. Just pray some idiot dont use one of them.

Why would you sell an mvp after christmas to buy another as a replacement?Thats the way you wrote it.I am just curious.

I typed too fast I guess, we don't have one yet but I want to build an NRA Prone Rifle off one this winter if we can get a used one. I learned from dad the best time to buy a good used hunting rifle is during the credit card billing periods after Christmas, Jan.-May. Every year he would run ads for WTB in all the local papers for rifles, shotguns, silver, gold, coins and older paper money, the phone would ring off the wall.

Another thought.......
Take a look at the Howa line as they can be had with a drop magazine also.
You can buy the kits for about $60, or buy the gun w/it already installed.
I saw one at a shop down in CO today, price was $549 w/10 round mag.
The magazine kit, bottom metal was $54.99 at another gunshop if you want to install one yourself.
The only thing is they are not AR15 mags, but by ATI which aint cheap @ $45 or more per mag.
The kit fits Howa/Mossberg 1500/S&W 1500/ Interarms 1500/ Weatherby Vanguards...all of which are Howa guns.
